Ah...the privilege and joy of watching my children learn (live)

Yesterday was a day that I thought would be dreadful for me as both my children did not have their full nap, i.e. two hours worth of nap time (reads WHINY and CRANKY
to the power of 5). It turned out otherwise, to my utmost delight. We ended up spending a good hour or so in the afternoon reading a few good books and nursery rhymes.
The afternoon of reading and goofing around provided many opportunities for questions and teachable moments. It was great to see my children enjoying the stories that were read to them and hear their thoughts and questions that arose from the materials that were read. I was especially amused by the rock’s attempt to sing the “incy (wincy) ‘pider’ climb (up the water) spo…ut.” At that moment, I thought to myself “I am so privileged to be able to watch them learn right here, right now and be part of their learning.”
I think this being able to participate actively in our children’s learning and education, and watching them utter that difficult word or draw that impressive human figure (complete with moles and five fingers) firsthand or live as I call it, is one of the things that bring joy to the parents or caregivers who choose to homeschool their children. I, for one, am a sucker for being the first in most things concerning my children’s lives. :)
