Easy Homemade Fingerpaint Recipe

Sorry I've been "out of action", my laptop went kaput all of a sudden and is under repair so I have no access to all my photos stored in there. So now I can only do moblogging or use only photos stored in my iphone.

Nevertheless I'll like to share a really simple homemade finger paint recipe I found here. It took only a few minutes to get the ingredients measured and "cooked", even with Princess' and The Rock's help.

Homemade Finger Paint Recipe

  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups water
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cook with low/medium heat until mixture thickens and turns translucent and glossy. Add food colouring to create desired colours and have fun with it!

I initially planned this to be a non-messy activity, so I put the finger paint into ziplock bags and taped them to the floor and encouraged Princess and The Rock to do some mess-free painting. I also encouraged The Rock to practise a little letter writing (only the few letters that he knows how to write).

Next I handed them a chopstick each and they experimented with rolling the paint and creating patterns by depressing the bags.

However they got restless and tired of working within such a small area and requested to do real finger painting, so we took out the paint from the ziplock bags and they had a good time painting with their fingers and smearing the paint and making patterns on paper by using plastic spatulas.

We had simple, great fun with it. Why don't you try it too! :)
